What would Island Youth
Like to See Changed?

Island youth were asked the question:
What would you like to see changed in PEI to make it more sustainable?

Here are the answers we received:

Fifteen youth answered that they would like to see our agricultural practices change to small scale, organic and sustainable farms. They also indicated that they would like to see no more large potato farms, no more pesticides and a viable, sustainable market for local organic farmers.

One kind soul said that they would simply like to see us living in harmony with nature, at all costs.

Five responded that they felt we needed more resources for sustainable transportation, ie: more carpooling, more buses and bus routes and more cars that use renewable fuel sources.

Three said that they would like to take the first step to raise awareness on the Island as to the importance of a healthy environment.

Three more said they would like to see a change in the way we design our houses by using passive solar designs, natural and recycled building materials and grey water reclamation systems.

We think they've got some great ideas!
